UEC is headquartered in Hermiston, Oregon (population 20,000+), the largest and fastest-growing city in Eastern Oregon. Located seven miles south of the Columbia River, Lake Wallula and the McNary Dam, the Hermiston area has become a hub for logistics and data center activity. The area is 30 minutes south of the Tri-Cities in Washington, two-and-a-half hours south of Spokane, three hours east of Portland, and three-and-a-half hours northwest of Boise. Cost of living is lower than the national average. Blue Mountain Community College and Eastern Oregon University have branch facilities in Hermiston; Columbia Basin College and a branch campus of Washington State University are a 40-mile drive. Area activities are plentiful, and include golfing, boating, fishing, hunting, camping, hiking and snow skiing.   • Umatilla Electric members have a voice in Salem. Members of the UEC leadership team and Board of Directors joined OREGON RURAL ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION (ORECA) and other electric co-ops from across the state to participate in the 2025 ORECA Legislative Days, a time where industry professionals gather to meet with legislative representatives, aiming to educate and discuss issues relating to your electric service. The voice of our members is being shared to discuss challenges in wildfire liabilities, electric utility regulations, supporting rural issues, and more. Our leadership is meeting with local representatives including Senator Todd Nash, Representative Bobby Levy, and Representative Greg Smith to discuss these topics and find solutions to support our service to you. During the 2025 Oregon Legislative Session, UEC has full time staff on the ground, working on your behalf. We encourage our members to participate in the legislative process and share your voice with our local representatives on topics important to you.
