Our insulating tubing and related component testing and certification program is expanding to include high voltage testing up to 2000V for tubing under Miscellaneous Tubing, Polymeric (YDTU2). This new certification will help support market entry for exciting higher voltage end-product applications, including electrical wiring systems for battery storage, electric vehicle (EV) chargers, photovoltaics (PV) and DC microgrids. Higher voltage ratings will also be published on the searchable Product iQ database. Tubing products will use test methods in accordance with UL 224, the Standard for Extruded Insulating Tubing, along with applied test potential outlined in UL 758, Appliance Wiring Material. On March 5, the Government of Canada has published the State of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Report to provide a science-based foundation for future actions and consultations with industry and other stakeholders. This report is proposing to add the class of PFAS, excluding fluoropolymers, to Part 2 of Schedule 1 to Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA). In line with the report, Canada proposes to prioritize action through a phased approach: ? Phase 1: Address PFAS in firefighting foams (not currently regulated), due to high potential for environmental and human exposure ? Phase 2: Address the uses of PFAS in consumer products where alternatives exist, such as certain textiles, ski waxes, building materials, and food packaging materials ? Phase 3: Evaluate sectors requiring further consideration through stakeholder engagement and further assessments This approach will be open for consultation to all interested parties from March 8 until May 7, 2025.
