We join the #InternationalWomensDay movement to recognize and honor the achievements of women worldwide. This year’s theme, #AccelerateAction, calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases women face, both personally and professionally. We support accelerating action by amplifying women’s voices, expanding opportunities, and fostering inclusive environments where diverse perspectives drive meaningful change. 关于我们
UL Research Institutes is a leading independent safety science organization with global reach. Dedicated to exploring vital questions related to public safety, we sense and act on risks to humanity and our planet. Since 1894, our trusted research has engaged the ingenuity of top minds across scientific disciplines to engineer a safer and more sustainable world. Science builds the knowledge required to mitigate increasingly urgent safety problems like environmental and chemical pollution and artificial intelligence inequities — and our rigorous, objective investigations uncover and develop that knowledge. In collaboration with a global network of scientists and safety professionals, we define the safe and sustainable use of things ranging from legacy materials and devices to new and emerging technologies. Our discoveries support the development of practical standards and policies by UL Standards & Engagement. Together, we are advancing safety science for the greater good. Discover more at UL.org.

We're dedicated to creating safer and more sustainable environments globally through scientific research and advocacy. Last month, members from our team and our Electrochemical Safety Research Institute (ESRI) promoted safe battery management to community members in Malawi, Africa, using UL Solutions-certified solar lights provided by Watts of Love, a nonprofit organization providing solar lighting and financial literacy training to impoverished communities worldwide. On #InternationalWomensDay, we are spotlighting several remarkable women in Malawi, and from ESRI (Judith Jeevarajan) and Watts of Love (Nancy Economou), who are driving positive change in their communities. Our #Xplorlabs Science of Fire Forensics pathway inspires students to think critically about safety science by becoming fire investigators — analyzing real fire scenes to determine how and where the fire began. Based on research from UL Research Institutes' Fire Safety Research Institute, the pathway features online interactives, videos, and investigations that can be customized to fit each educator's needs. Check it out at Xplorlabs.org. #SafetyScience #FireForensics #STEMEducation #EducationMatters

Our #DiscoveriesInSafety grants program is one way we approach making the world a safer place - together. The transfer of #toxicchemicals through firefighter suit materials is an important focus of our work. Together with this exceptional team of researchers at Ulster University, we hope to move the needle on understanding these risks and working toward solutions that keep our first responders safe. #SafetyScience #ResearchMatters
Senior Lecturer in Chemistry at Ulster University| Vice-Chair Northern Ireland Section, Royal Society of Chemistry
I am very grateful to UL Research Institutes and Fire Safety Research Institute for their continued commitment to safety science. I am honoured to be a recipient of 2024 #DiscoveriesInSafety Grant Program which will help further research in “Investigation of toxic chemicals transfer through clothing layers of fire suits”. The research team at Ulster University, comprised of?Ali Nadjai, Jianping Zhang, Hamed Rasouli Sadabad, and?led by Svetlana Tretsiakova aims to improve our understanding of the?nature and quantities of toxic products of combustion and?their ability to permeate and get transferred through layers of fire suits, thus negatively impacting health of first responders. The project has a paramount importance for firefighters, manufacturers of personal protective equipment and clothing, regulators, and health and safety specialists who seek robust, long-term solutions to the problem of repeated exposure to toxic combustion products. Together we can drive real change and provide invaluable impact. Please subscribe to our project website to receive updates on the research results, activities and events: https://www.intoxfire.net/ #ULRIgrants #DiscoveriesInSafety #UlsterUniversity #FireSERT
