This week ULI Kansas City is convening a Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) for the?City of Kansas City, MO to explore key challenges surrounding the Linwood Shopping Center on Prospect Avenue between Linwood and 31st?Street. As the owner of the shopping center, the City has invested approximately $17 million to alleviate a food desert, remove blight, and spur business development. In recent months, the area has experienced a significant uptick in loitering, panhandling, and crime, which has had a significant negative impact on the corridor. Over two days, our multidisciplinary TAP panel will study the area and interview stakeholders from the City, area business owners, community organizations, and surrounding neighborhood associations to explore ways to reimagine the corridor with the goal of long-term sustainability of the grocery store and creating a sense of place that is safe and welcoming for neighborhood shoppers. We are grateful to our TAP panelists for sharing their time and expertise for this study: Terrell Jolly, MBA, Dennis Strait, Elizabeth Amirahmadi, Malik Bieberle, Carmen Chopp, Chris Dahlquist, Christina Fenwick, CCIM, MRE, Maggie Green, Chase Johnson, and Myron McCant. Learn more about this TAP and hear the panel’s recommendations at a free public presentation on Wednesday, March 12, from 4:30-6:00 pm at the?Lucile H. Bluford branch?of the Kansas City Public Library. Register here: https://lnkd.in/dum8d6nN #ulikansascity #ulikc #urbanlandinstitute #technicalassistance #tap
