The Urban Land Institute just released its 2024 Annual Report highlighting several impactful projects that happened here! https://lnkd.in/eWHY_E64 1) The ULI Southeastern Coastal Development Forum in Savannah, GA, where ULI Atlanta joined forces with ULI South Carolina and ULI North Florida to tackle climate resilience, infrastructure, and sustainable development. ????? The success of this forum cannot be understated - it was the impetus for launching ULI Savannah in September 2024 with a terrific volunteer team of leaders including Pat Shay, Laura Ballock, PLA, Clara Fishel, CCIM, Anita Smith-Dixon, James Collins, Jakob B. von Trapp, Joseph Stryker, and many, many others! Read more about ULI Savannah here: https://lnkd.in/eSxEC6qD 2) The annual report also highlighted a partnership with Atlanta Housing who enlisted ULI’s Advisory Services program, in partnership with the Terwilliger Center and ULI Atlanta, to provide guidance on efforts to create or preserve 10,000 affordable housing units. The panel of ULI member experts was made possible through funding from the ULI Foundation. See that report here: https://lnkd.in/eRrAQgvq ?? That’s a wrap on ULI Atlanta’s second and final NZI Embodied Carbon Workshop in collaboration with?Livable Buckhead?and?ULI’s @Randall Lewis Center for Sustainability in Real Estate! We kicked things off with a recap of Workshop 1 before diving into an insightful presentation from?Ayden Kristmanson & Vincent Delfaud?with?Bosa Properties — a big thank you to them for making the trip from Vancouver, B.C.! The heart of the workshop focused on?breakout sessions?with targeted prompts designed to gather direct feedback from a diverse range of stakeholders, each bringing unique perspectives to the conversation on embodied carbon. We closed the day with a working lunch and an inspiring presentation from?Susan Jones?of?atelierjones llc, who joined us from Seattle to discuss her recently completed?Heartwood?project — one of the nation’s leading examples of mass timber multifamily development. A huge thank you to all who attended and contributed to these critical discussions. We’re excited for what’s next with?Livable Buckhead?as we conclude this project.???????#ULIAtlanta #EmbodiedCarbon #LivableBuckhead #MassTimber #atlanta #ULI #carbonreduction

We are so thankful to everyone who came out to the Housing Opportunity Conference at the Hilton Atlanta this week for an insightful two days of discussion on best practices, innovative ideas, and trends related to all types of housing. This conference, hosted by ULI's Terwilliger Center for Housing, brought together nearly 600 professionals from an array of sectors with the goal of expanding housing opportunities in the communities of all who attended. We were proud to serve as the host city for the Center's biggest conference yet and highlight some of the phenomenal work being done here to make housing more attainable for all Atlantans, as well as showcase local innovative developments through four unique tour offerings. Additional thanks go out to all the wonderful event sponsors and Terwilliger Center staff who made this conference possible! I attended the Urban Land Institute's Housing Opportunity Conference this week to participate in a fireside chat with my friend Dennis Shea, executive director of the Bipartisan Policy Center's J. Ronald Terwilliger Center for Housing Policy. We talked about big picture housing issues, including inflation and interest rates. In our discussion, I explained the influence that housing has had on inflation levels. "If you look at the indices [the Fed] uses to calculate inflation, many products have come back down to pre-pandemic levels," I said. "Housing has not come down nearly as much, and it's stickiness at the higher level has put something of a floor on how low inflation can go."
