One of the things I enjoy most about my job at ULI Atlanta is getting to see cool places and learn the behind-the-scenes of what’s shaping communities across Georgia. Today was a special one—because we got to tour the city I call home: Dunwoody. I had the pleasure of helping facilitate ULI Atlanta’s Creative Development Council Spring Day alongside two of the best in the Atlanta economic development world: Michael Starling and Fernanda Barella Kirchner with the City of Dunwoody, Georgia We kicked off the day with a spirited panel of DeKalb County business owners, thanks to Decide DeKalb Development Authority at the Politan Row Foodhall at Ashford Lane. We then hopped on a trolley organized by the City and made our way through Dunwoody Village, explored the burgeoning office focused mixed-use, Campus 244, and wrapped up with a tour of High Street’s residential component—designed by our happy hour sponsor, dwell design studio, llc—before toasting the day at Agave Bandido. Huge thanks to CDC Co-Chairs Malory Atkinson, CPSM, LEED GA and Anne Michael Sustman for helping make it all happen. For a long time, Dunwoody was known as a sleepy suburb—the first “OTP” town. But today’s tour told a new story: one of bold mixed-use investment, MARTA access, and a growing sense of vibrancy. At ULI Atlanta, we mean it when we say we’re a statewide organization! Earlier this week, ULI staff and members of our Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) traveled to Augusta to present our findings to the Augusta City Commission on the future of?401 Walton Way—a six-acre site in the heart of Georgia’s second-largest city. Our TAP recommendations outline a?phased redevelopment strategy?that brings immediate activation through?greenspaces, soccer pitches, and pop-up markets, while laying the foundation for a?long-term innovation hub?that leverages Augusta’s strengths in defense, healthcare, and technology. We’re proud to support?Augusta’s vision?and can’t wait to see this site transform into a dynamic asset for the city and its residents! ?? ULI Partner Spotlight on Jennifer Ball at Central Atlanta Progress. She works tirelessly as CAP's COO and has hosted countless ULI tours that highlight the vibrancy and future of downtown Atlanta! Kudos to you for your hard work and passion for Atlanta's downtown built environment.

Today, the ULI Atlanta board met for our Q3 meeting at GreenbergFarrow offices in Midtown. This board meeting was particularly special as we honored our Director, Barbra Hardy, for her 15th anniversary with our District Council. Big thanks to Faith Hoople for hosting us and to our board for their continued commitment to service within ULI Atlanta.

This morning, some of our members had the chance to tour the Shepherd Center's newly developed treatment facility and a few other spots within the campus. The revolutionary Shepherd Center is the largest facility that specializes in medical treatment, research and rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, spine and chronic pain, and other neuromuscular conditions. A huge thanks to Cara Roxland and the team at the Center for showing us around and giving some insights into how they keep their state-of-the-art operation churning 24/7.

Congratulations are in order for two of our District Council's most influential members - Morgan Murdock, PE and Ellen Garland - on their respective acceptances into the WLI Prologis Leaders and WLI Entrepreneurs Programs! The Prologis Leaders features ten outstanding ULI women who are recognized with a scholarship award. Each winner has a minimum of seven years in the real estate or land use industry and demonstrates leadership through ULI at the local, national, or global level. Each of these new leaders is assigned a senior-level mentor who will bring them to product council activities at the 2025 Spring Meeting. Meanwhile, the WLI Entrepreneurs Program selects five outstanding ULI women to be recognized with this NEW award. The women of this Program will be assigned senior level mentors, can attend both the Spring and Fall Meetings, as well as attend exclusive leadership training sessions throughout the year, to future strengthen their business.
