Integrated Strategic Communication offers students professional preparation for careers in the areas of Advertising, Public Relations and Direct Response Communication. Students develop their skills through one of four chosen paths that mirror the functions within persuasive communication agencies. The four ISC paths are: Account Management Creative Advertising Public Relations Direct Response Although students focus on a specific area, the major emphasizes a strategic approach to communication initiatives and is designed to build analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as writing and presentation skills. ISC graduates enjoy highly diverse career destinations, and are sought after by firms specializing in: Advertising Public Relations Media Sales Communications Technology Event Planning Non-profit Organizations Regulatory/Consumer Protection Agencies

Please support the meaningful, intergenerational work of our University of Kentucky College of Communication and Information colleague Nigel M. Taylor!
When I was younger, I often felt a disconnect with older people, as if they never truly understood or cared about what I was experiencing. As I grew older, I realized how much I could have benefited from older individuals, beyond my teachers and parents, being more open and sharing their experiences, advice, and wisdom to help navigate life's challenges. Many of my peers now talk about younger people as if we're worlds apart, yet I see that many struggles we face are similar to those of younger students I meet when visiting schools. I want to create a bridge between generations, offering the younger generation the affirmations and guidance we wished we had received in our youth. Affirmation Project by Nigel Marcellus is a personal project aimed at uplifting younger students. The objective is to gather short videos offering advice, encouragement, or positive messages to help elementary, middle, and high school students navigate societal pressures and challenges in life. Each week's video will be centered around a theme to specifically target the needs of students. These videos will be compiled into a series on YouTube and will be shown to students for their own personal reflection, journaling, and class discussion. I'm working with a few teachers and I'm excited to see how the students receive these messages.
