Members Day is kicking off soon, so here’s a reminder of some of the work we’ve been doing to champion the industry in Parliament. Last week, Secretary of State Lisa Nandy MP voiced her support for the UK games industry in the House of Commons, responding to a question from Dame Caroline Dinenage MP DBE about keeping UK tax reliefs globally competitive. With growing cross-party support for video games as a cultural and economic powerhouse, Ukie will continue advocating for policies that drive growth and innovation in the UK industry. I am delighted to share that next week we will be unveiling the relaunch of #RaiseTheGame at Ukie Members Day on Tuesday 4th March at the Museum of London. This has been a labour of love, focusing on how we can take this iconic work into a new phase set for the future. We will share the future of #RaiseTheGame followed by a panel discussing how we can make more of an impact in the UK Games Industry to drive diversity. The Panel will be hosted by Angela Dickson and Charlotte Bidgood (MCIPD) of Inclusive People. "The UK is home to some amazing [video game] companies and developers and we want to continue to support them as they grow and continue to develop world-leading games" Fantastic support from Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, the Rt. Hon Lisa Nandy MP in the House Commons this morning in response to a question raised by industry champion Dame Caroline Dinenage MP DBE about how the Government can do more to maintain the UK's competitive edge in the global games industry. Dame Caroline raised an important question about the relative competitiveness of our tax reliefs regime in the UK - a central pillar of the recent Ukie submission to the Governmental Spending Review: "What is the Minister doing to really push the Treasury on this, to ensure our Video Games Expenditure Credit and everything else are up-to-date so we're really retaining our competitive edge in this vital sector?" It is so important to see this cross-Party recognition of the vital role of video games as a cultural and economic powerhouse for the UK. We will continue to liaise with Dame Caroline, Lisa Nandy and Department for Culture, Media and Sport and HM Treasury officials to make the case that now is absolutely the time to 'press start on growth'!
