This week, nearly 50 people came together for our conference for survivors of modern slavery called ‘The Future of Lived Experience Inclusion and Survivor Support.’ It was an incredibly rewarding and inspirational day, as survivors supported by The Salvation Army and our partners through the Modern Slavery Victim Care Contract shared their ideas on how we can better integrate lived experience expertise into our work helping survivors rebuild their lives after exploitation. The conference included powerful contributions from survivors involved with lived experience groups, including the Human Trafficking Foundation, The Salvation Army, and our partners Unseen UK and Hestia Charity set a positive tone. Survivors commended the safe and supportive space provided to share their knowledge and experiences in this important conversation where, together we can shape a future where lived experience is at the heart of how we support survivors of modern slavery. Watch highlights from the keynote address from Jess Phillips MP, Minister for Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls UK Home Office which, recognising the bravery of survivors in using their voices to strengthen our collective response to modern slavery.
