RAMLOW/STEIN Architecture + Interiors

The RAMLOW/STEIN team spent the day touring several of our projects around the Madison area for our annual ‘Architecture Day’. Projects included Sellery Hall (completed Fall 2024), Levy Hall (scheduled completion Fall 2026), and the Usona Institute (completed Fall 2023). We would like to extend our gratitude to our hosts, the University of Wisconsin-Madison housing, CD SMITH CONSTRUCTION INC, Promega Corporation and the Usona Institute, for making this day truly unforgettable.

Last Friday, the Milwaukee School of Engineering commemorated the 5-year anniversary of the opening of the Dwight and Dian Diercks Computational Science Hall. RAMLOW /STEIN Designer and AI leader, Bescent Ebeid, was a featured speaker, sharing insights on the history of AI, AI applications in architecture, data usage, and included practical demonstrations in design and rendering.

RAMLOW/STEIN was honored to be recognized by American School and University Magazine with an OUTSTANDING DESIGN AWARD for South Residence Hall at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. South Hall stands as a testament to the institution's commitment to providing top-notch facilities for their students. Transformation Tuesday: This month, we are featuring the Welcome Center at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Once the bustling Bottling Plant of the Blatz Brewery, the structure entered a new chapter in the 1980s when MSOE acquired it. The recent renovations have breathed new life into the space, now serving as the campus Welcome Center. This adaptive reuse project incorporated sustainable practices, preserved the building's iconic features, and provided dynamic spaces for student services, admissions, and community engagement, thus revitalizing a piece of Milwaukee's brewing history for future generations of engineering students.??

Transformation Tuesday: This month, we are featuring the Milwaukee VA Soldiers Home - Old Main. RAMLOW/STEIN collaborated with The Alexander Company to restore and repurpose Old Main from an abandoned Civil War veteran domicile to 80 apartments for homeless or at-risk veterans. The building includes spaces for group activities, fitness, home health care, counseling services, and building management.

Transformation Tuesday: This month, we are featuring Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The church is undergoing significant restoration after a devastating fire in 2018. The project aimed to preserve the church's historical features, including its intricate woodwork and stained-glass windows, while updating the infrastructure to meet modern safety standards. The congregation and community have rallied together to fund and support the restoration of this 1878 landmark, which holds architectural and cultural significance.

RAMLOW/STEIN spent the day building houses for Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin, contributing to the creation of affordable housing for deserving local families. Habitat's mission is more than just building houses... it's about building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
