The mission of the UVM Larner College of Medicine at The University of Vermont is to educate a diverse group of dedicated physicians and biomedical scientists to serve across all the disciplines of medicine; to bring hope to patients by advancing medical knowledge through research; to integrate education and research to advance the quality and accessibility of patient care; and to engage with our communities to benefit Vermont and the world. At UICOM, we achieve this goal through an innovative and evolving curriculum that integrates the basic, clinical and social sciences, and through a learning environment that emphasizes self-directed, individualized, and experiential learning. We prepare our graduates to provide compassionate patient care; to demonstrate effective interprofessional collaboration, leadership, and advocacy in health care; to provide care for underserved urban and rural populations; and to translate research discoveries into clinical practice.
