UHIN proudly recognizes Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett-Helaire, a pioneering scientist whose groundbreaking work in mRNA vaccine development helped shape the global fight against COVID-19. As the scientific lead at the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Corbett-Helaire and her team partnered with Moderna to develop the first COVID-19 vaccine to enter clinical trials—a monumental achievement that brought hope to millions. Her innovative work didn’t stop there; the technology she helped create is now foundational to vaccines from Pfizer, Novavax, and Johnson & Johnson, impacting communities worldwide. Beyond the lab, Dr. Corbett-Helaire is an advocate for health equity and scientific education, inspiring future generations to break barriers and pursue careers in STEM. At UHIN, we understand the power of innovation to improve healthcare outcomes, and we celebrate leaders like Dr. Corbett-Helaire who exemplify the transformative potential of science and technology. #BlackHistoryMonth #HealthcareInnovation #STEMLeadership #InspiringChange #PublicHealthHeroes #HealthData

This Black History Month, we honor the remarkable legacy of Dr. Marilyn Hughes Gaston, a trailblazer whose groundbreaking work has transformed healthcare in the United States. Dr. Gaston's 1986 study on sickle cell disease led to a nationwide screening program for newborns—a program that has saved countless lives through early detection and intervention. As the first Black woman physician to lead the Bureau of Primary Health Care, she championed accessible, community-based care for underserved populations. Her impact extended even further as she rose to assistant surgeon general, advocating tirelessly for equitable healthcare. At UHIN, we are inspired by pioneers like Dr. Gaston who embody the power of data-driven research and innovative thinking to improve public health. Her work reminds us why connectivity in healthcare matters: when information flows seamlessly, lives are improved. Join us in celebrating Dr. Gaston's enduring legacy of compassion, innovation, and advocacy. #BlackHistoryMonth #HealthcareInnovation #PublicHealthChampion #SickleCellAwareness #HealthEquity #WomenInMedicine #UHINValues #DataForGood

This #BlackHistoryMonth, UHIN proudly honors Dr. James McCune Smith, the first Black American to earn a medical degree. He graduated from the University of Glasgow in Scotland when U.S. institutions barred him due to segregation. But his accomplishments didn’t stop there. He went on to become the first Black physician to publish in U.S. medical journals and to open and operate his own pharmacy, serving his community with groundbreaking care and insight. Dr. Smith recognized the power of data, using medical and census statistics to challenge misinformation and advocate for the health and well-being of marginalized communities. His commitment to truth and access remains an inspiration today. At UHIN, we share Dr. Smith's belief in using healthcare data to create clarity and drive better outcomes for all. We are reminded this month - and every month - that innovation and inclusion go hand in hand. #HealthcareInnovation #DataDrivenHealth #HealthEquity #BlackHistoryMonth

We're dedicated to continuous improvement at UHIN. To learn more about this strategy, a group of our staff recently visited the Post Consumer Brands plant in Tremonton, Utah. The wonderful staff at Post shared their #Kaizen-oriented strategy with us and showed it in action on the manufacturing floor. We put on smocks, shoe covers, safety gear and headsets, then made our way into the plant. From cutting the wheat and adding frosting to packaging the final product... a lot goes into making delicious cereal! Health information technology and cereal may appear worlds apart. However, there were many practices that can help our companies operate efficiently and align with our customers' needs and expectations. We want to thank our hosts at Post for their time and for the boxes of Cinnamon Crunch, Shredded Wheat, and Fruity & Cocoa Pebbles ?? ??. We look forward to working some of their ideas into our work at UHIN. #continuousimprovement
