We like to say this institute has outstanding DNA, because it’s true! Jeff Atwater, former Florida CFO and state senator, was one of the original negotiators on the deal that created our biomedical research campus.
This week we welcomed Atwater back to campus, where he presented our CFO, James Lapple with the original 2003 signed document creating the Scripps Florida Funding Corporation, the oversight board that managed our economic development grant. We’re delighted to have this significant piece of our history from his time in the legislature.
We will treasure this piece of our past as we forge ahead toward our fourth year under the banner of the University of Florida. Our dedication to biomedical research, drug discovery and education of the next generation of scientists continues unabated, as our innovators continue making a profound impact in the state and the world. Thank you for your vision and your generosity, Jeff Atwater! (Who is also a Gator!)
