关于我们

The Society of Asian Scientists & Engineers is a student-led organization at the University of Florida. We welcome companies and individuals to support our efforts to connect across cultures, and companies to enable APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander Desi American) professionals in science and engineering to achieve their full potential. Through our meetings and events, we help shape skills and provide knowledge that will allow our members to succeed in the professional world. No matter what major you are, we provide a friendly atmosphere to help you land that internship or job, or to network with other like-minded individuals. Our mission is to prepare Asian heritage engineers and scientists for success, celebrate diversity, and provide opportunities for members to make contributions to our local communities.

  • For GBM 3, SASE joined the Scooby gang to solve the mystery ?? behind stress and opportunities that our members can pursue outside internships! In order to handle stress, make sure to follow healthy lifestyle choices such as meal prepping for nutritious meals ?? and exercising ??! In addition, our members took part in laughter yoga that made sure everyone was a little less stressed leaving the GBM ??! We were also extremely lucky to have one of our former PIE (President, Internal VP, External VP) board members join us for the Alumni spotlight! Camille Hernandez, our 2020-2021 SASE president, currently works at SLB. Nicole C., our ‘20-’21 SASE IVP currently works at Universal Destinations & Experiences. Alexis Navarroza our ‘20-’21 currently works at KLS Martin Group. Our alumni spoke about how they leveraged their summers? and time at UF to tailor their careers to lead them where they currently are. They all took the time to acknowledge that internships are not the only way to spend summers and taking classes ?? , doing research ?? , or working are all useful experiences too! We are so glad they took the time to come back and talk to our SASE members, and we look forward to seeing more of their successes in the future

  • Thank you so much to everyone for coming out to our second UF SASE - Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers GBM! ?? For this GBM, we channeled our inner Big Hero SASE. To begin, our members scrambled to find others to complete a Baymax puzzle ?? and then created some creative handshakes ??. We began our content discussion with how to make professional connections in industry and in academia. Members were encouraged to use career fairs and office hours to develop meaningful and potentially advantageous connections. ?? In addition, in order to make new friends, our SASE members learned how to get more involved on campus and how to make meaningful connections with others. Hopefully, everyone met some new friends at the GBM! ?? After the GBM we had our mentor-mentee reveal and went to Bento for our after social ??. A special thank you to Daniel Nguyen, a previous UF SASE president, for being our Alumni spotlight ?? and sharing how he made the most of his time at UF and SASE. Now he works at Boeing ?? while pursuing his master’s degree. He gave advice on how he manages a work-life balance and goes about making personal and professional connections both currently and during his college years.

  • SASE and UF IISE were fortunate to have NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Launch Services Program join us for an informational session about their role in enabling future space travel. We were very lucky to have had Jarrod Bales who explained the different paths our members can explore to find their place with NASA. Some awesome merch was also handed out! We are also very thankful for Albert Sierra’s valuable advice about how he found his place within the organization. He is now the program manager for NASA’s Launch Services at Kennedy Space Center. It was inspiring to hear how with hard work and dedication to constantly learning it is possible to achieve success and the ability to make a significant impact.

  • We are thrilled to have hosted Blue Origin for a meet and greet session. Maddy Jacobs discussed the company's current trajectory and opportunities for our members to join them on their mission It was also great to see UF alumni Jaime Van Malleghem and Juan Alzate return to talk about how they tailored their college experiences to end up working at Blue Origin on a variety of unique and significant projects only a few years out of college. Thank you to Blue Origin for joining us for this valuable experience and for supporting SASE as a sponsor!
