Yesterday, UF Hillel, Tikvah, and SSI set up a Nova Festival Exhibit in Plaza of the Americas, one of the busiest areas on campus. The lawn was covered with flags representing every country of the victims in addition to hundreds of Israeli flags, creating a powerful tribute. Educational signs recounted the events of October 7, sharing the story of that tragic day with all who passed by. We hope this display honors the victims and raises awareness about the ongoing war in Israel. ???? #amyisraelchai #novafestival #wewilldanceagain???

UF Hillel seeks to provide EVERY Jewish student at UF and Santa Fe with a positive and meaningful Jewish experience -- one that they will carry with them long after graduation. At a university as large as UF, making sure our students feel they belong is an often unseen, but critical aspect of UF Hillel's work. Our professional staff, led by Rabbi Jonah Zinn, work tirelessly to advocate on behalf of Jewish students. We build strong relationships with university administrators, bring non-Jewish, influential student leaders to Israel, assist students if they have a conflict related to religious observance, educate student groups and departments about Jewish cultural competencies, and so much more. UF Hillel has proudly served the needs of Jewish students directly and indirectly for more than 75 years, and we're just getting started.

Yesterday marked 300 days since October 7, and Jewish college students won’t stop advocating for the hostages being held in Gaza. UF Hillel students stood in the middle of campus, with "Bring Them Home” dog tags and a sign urging the release of those still in captivity. #BringThemHome ???

Jewish students are today constantly asking themselves these types of questions: Should I take down the mezuzah? Is it safe to be seen going to Hillel? How should I respond when my professor or peers speak against Israel? In the face of these challenges, Rabbi Jonah Zinn, executive director of UF Hillel, believes it is more imperative than ever that Jewish college students experience Israel. “Just as we have worked to strengthen our communal security infrastructure in response to the surge in antisemitism, so too must we spiritually fortify our young people. Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of attending the Gators for Israel and UF Jewish Student Union Leadership Dinner hosted by UF Hillel! The evening recognized student leaders at UF who have continuously strived to advocate for Jewish students and the Israeli community.
