He and his team discovered that the mouse had a unique case of jeilongvirus. The virus found was named Gainesville rodent jeilong virus 1 by the team and is the first jeilongvirus to be discovered in the U.S. Read more at the link below. https://lnkd.in/exYCk8aD

It’s here! The UF Health Cancer Center launched the Mobile Cancer Screening Connector, which will expand access to lifesaving cancer screenings and essential health care services, including 3D mammograms and screenings for cervical, colon, and prostate cancers. The vehicle is the first of its kind in North Central Florida and will expand our efforts to detect cancer early — when it’s most treatable — by eliminating barriers like transportation and time away from work. It's an essential part of our strategy to address the cancer needs of our communities, particularly our rural and aging populations, bringing high-quality health care directly to people where they are.

A UF College of Dentistry and UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering research team is testing and developing a biosensor capable of detecting cancer through a saliva test. This would offer faster, non-invasive screenings. This research will support rural areas with limited access to medical imaging. https://lnkd.in/ee9agKfj
