"In the past five years, we've treated 30 children from Australia with a variety of diagnoses," said Dr. Danny. This summer, Dr. Danny had the opportunity to speak on a panel at the Paediatric Radiation Oncology Society (PROS) meeting in Sydney, Australia. On the panel as well, was Sue, who discussed how traveling to another country for treatment affected her then 5 year old daughter, Audrey, and their family. A recent study found that proton therapy offers significant advantages for lung cancer patients with multiple lesions, reducing radiation exposure to healthy lung tissue and nearby organs compared to VMAT, a form of X-ray radiation. Through dosimetric treatment planning, the study provided valuable evidence to help radiation oncologists determine the most effective and safest treatment options for lung cancer patients.
