Thursday, we celebrated the groundbreaking of the Leon L. Haley Jr., MD, Emergency and Trauma Center. Named in honor of Dr. Leon L. Haley Jr., our former CEO and dean of the UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville, the new center will carry his legacy forward of advancing health care in the region. The facility will greatly expand our ability to provide lifesaving care to adults and children throughout Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. Once completed, the center will grow from 78 to 125 emergency and trauma rooms, combining cutting-edge technology with expert care across all medical specialties. This expansion preserves TraumaOne’s 40-year legacy as Florida’s first trauma center, ensuring we continue to deliver critical care to those who need it most. The project wouldn’t be made possible without the incredible support of the state of Florida, which provided $80 million in funding, and the city of Jacksonville, which contributed an additional $10 million. Together, we are building a brighter future for our community and beyond. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this exciting celebration!
