My ESRI Assistantship at #FedGIS2025 in Washington, DC just wrapped up and it was a great experience! I am bringing a lot back with me - lots of energy to use GIS for good, exciting new connections with industry professionals, and inspiration for my own work and research. As a Student Assistant, I split my time between coordinating conference logistics under the amazing leadership of Xochitl Garcia and Joe Galarza and immersing myself in sessions and networking as an attendee. One of the best parts is that I got to experience all of this alongside two of my SBE Geodesign cohort members Kira Reinhartz and Lauren Whittier. The Gator presence was strong among the student assistants! I attended some great sessions, including inspiring #NatureBasedSolutions work from Amazon Conservation Team and Kate Hess's GISforGood team. Seeing the iNaturalist talk was another highlight of my experience! A large thank you to The GeoPlan Center for supporting this step in my professional development. I'm excited to introduce some of the exciting ArcGIS updates to our office when I get back!
