HEALTH for All celebrates five years of delivering mobile healthcare services to communities across Delaware. We were honored to spend time today with our partners at the Laurel Public Library. We’re grateful for the strong community partnerships that make this work possible and for the opportunity to provide UD students with hands-on learning experiences as we care for our neighbors.

The University of Delaware College of Health Sciences was honored to host Stuart Comstock-Gay as Dean for a Day last week at STAR Campus. We discussed community engagement opportunities, including the UD Partnership for Healthy Communities and Heath for All program, and provided him with a tour of our campus. When wildfires force nursing homes and assisted living residents to evacuate, families face significant challenges. Jennifer Horney, director of the University of Delaware’s Epidemiology Program, the Partnership for Healthy Communities, and Core Faculty at the Disaster Research Center, stresses the importance of trusting local emergency management during these chaotic situations. We’re honored to be recognized as a Healthy People 2030 Champion by ODPHP, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)! Programs like Health for All (H4A), lead by Christine G. Sowinski and Heather M. Milea, connect UD students with communities to improve health care access and tackle inequities. Alexandra Wynn, PhD, our postdoctoral researcher, spearheads the Delaware State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP), uniting more than 55 organizations to address critical health challenges statewide. On a windy December day, the STAR Health Sciences Complex was transformed into a place of warmth, support, and solidarity for Delaware’s LGBTQ+ community during the Empowered Futures event. Organized in just three weeks, the event brought together over 20 incredible organizations and countless volunteers dedicated to legal and healthcare readiness.?? ?“Every volunteer and organization showed up with the understanding that if they could help just one person, it was all worth it,” shared Katlyn Culhane-Suluai, program manager of the Partnership for Healthy Communities and event organizer.??
