The 2024 election is over, and the country looks to a second term with Donald Trump as president. Though Trump has cited anti-democratic ideals as part of his agenda, his election does not mean voters want him to dismantle democracy. CLC stands ready to hold his administration accountable, protect the rule of law and defend our system of checks and balances. There is hard work ahead and CLC is here to do it.?

As election day approaches, voters should beware of constitutional amendments placed on the ballot by special interests. These initiatives receive little more than perfunctory vetting, contain confusing language, lack necessary definitions, lead to unnecessary litigation and invariably have unintended results. Voters should carefully scrutinize proposed language on the ballot.

"There is nothing in the U.S. Constitution about political parties. In fact, the founders appear to have not liked the idea of parties. Yet, we have this #partisan duopoly mostly due to state law, tradition, and custom," letter to the editor via The Parker Pioneer. #MakeElectionsFairAZ treats all voters and all candidates equally. **WARNING - POLITICAL TRUTH** More and more, we are being told two things by corporate/social media, experts, pundits and politicians, as follows: 1) The 'two-party system' is broken and must be replaced, and 2) We must 'protect democracy' by eliminating certain viewpoints or perspectives, and banning certain people from public discussions. https://lnkd.in/ghUsEfv8 So in this post, I'd like to address the error (and absurdity) of both statements with facts and data. FIRST, the United States of America has WAY MORE than two parties. There is an incredible diversity in American politics. As of November 2022, there were at least 53 ballot-qualified political parties in the United States, and 209 state-level parties. The outcome of all caucuses, primaries and elections are determined by the party, issue or candidate that receives the most votes. Read the article below for details. SECOND, the United States is a Constitutional Republic - NOT - a 'democracy.' And the US #Constitution (which is 'the Supreme Law of the Land') protects and does not limit your God-given right of freedom of speech and expression. It is un-American to eliminate/censor certain viewpoints or perspectives, and to ban certain people from public discussions. Good people can disagree in fundamental ways. In fact, disagreement is built into our system. Consider that after every election, some won and some lost, some people are happy and some people are unhappy. If you can't find your place in the current system, you aren't looking very hard. And, you can always start your own party or just write in the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot. HERE'S MY POINT. Our system is not broken, but a lot of people are unfamiliar with how it really works. Few Americans have read their own Constitution. In my next comment below is a link to the text of this amazing document. PLEASE inform yourself, participate in the system and VOTE as if your life, your security and your future depends on it. IT DOES.

Here's a recent op-ed from Fred Wertheimer: SCOTUS Continues Its Slow Walk For Trump For six months now the Supreme Court has been slow walking a decision on former President Donald Trump’s frivolous claim that he has absolute immunity for actions he took while President. ? This delay is of enormous benefit to Trump. ? To put it simply, those slow-walking Justices have undermined the rule of law and discredited the institution in which they serve. ? The pending Supreme Court case,?United States v. Trump, is likely the most important criminal case in American history.?It involves whether or not former President Trump is criminally responsible for the lead role he played in the unprecedented attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election. ? Those slow-walking, pro-Trump Justices have refused every opportunity they have had during the last six months to expedite this historic case.?Instead, those Justices have given Trump exactly what he wants – sufficient delay to virtually ensure that there is no trial before the November election.? ? Every Justice knows that if Trump achieves his goal of delaying a trial until after the election and then wins in November, he will promptly order the Justice Department to drop the case. By slow walking the case, those Justices have shown utter disregard for the nation’s voters. ? Citizens have a right to know before they vote whether the presidential candidate they vote for or against is a felon convicted of orchestrating the first attempted presidential coup in our nation’s history. ? Those Justices who are slow walking this case have acted to benefit Trump at the expense of the American people, inflicted profound damage on our democracy, and failed to carry out their constitutional duties. Afr.News/Update#News/AFRI Source:-bbc.com/IBlog Blogger:-#yasjay-blog@KSA-Rydh# Dated:- 2nd June, 2024. "THE BATTLE LINE HAS BEEN DRAWN" In an era when presidential elections are ultimately decided by a few thousand voters in a few swing states, it remains to be seen whether this guilty verdict will ultimately move that dial. What happens when political loyalty clashes with the principles of justice and democracy? In the aftermath of Donald Trump's guilty verdict on 34 felony counts, his camp sees it as a litmus test for Republican loyalty. While many GOP officials publicly support Trump, dissent is brewing. Will the GOP's loyalty to Trump survive the test of legal accountability? Some, like Larry Hogan, advocate for respecting the legal process, risking backlash from the Trump camp. Despite claims of a unified front, underlying tensions exist within the party, with figures like Marco Rubio denouncing the legal system's integrity, calling it a "Kangaroo Court". Trump's narrative frames challenges as systemic bias against him, rallying his base. However, cracks may be forming as some voters reconsider their support post-verdict. Whether this fracture escalates into a full-blown civil war or consolidates Trump's grip on the party remains uncertain, but its implications for future elections are significant. Is the transformation of democratic stalwarts into BANANA REPUBLICS indicative of democracy's demise in a multipolar world? #STOP SETTING A BAD PRECEDENCE FOR AFRICAN DEMOCRACY# #STAYTUNE#KSA#AFR.?? #FollowMe#newsblog#yasjay#rydh Em:-<[email protected]> with&liveupdate/credible/source.

Read about the recent Supreme Court decision on my blog. Essentially, the court ruled that states don't have the power to remove candidates in a federal election. And, enforcing the "insurrectionist" section of the 14th amendment, was sketchy and better left to congress to decide the laws on how it's enforced. 1 周I had been hoping to see a post like this from you or a similar group. And thank you for your vigilance! But I guess I'd really like to see an overview of what institutional guardrails do exist when a president has Congress and SCOTUS on his side. Where are the brakes at this point?
