With so much happening this summer I forgot to share about some of the special programs we ran this summer. This summer CREATE at UC San Diego was delighted to work with San Diego City College’s Yo Soy STEM Program to provide summer research experiences to aspiring scientists and engineers. Are some research experience programs provide a very thoughtful experience for students to begin their journey and research. Special thanks to all of our faculty members that host students and Marisela Chevez for her leadership. The students were great!

The AiC Educator Award identifies and celebrates exemplary formal and informal educators who play a pivotal role in encouraging 9th-12th grade women, genderqueer, and non-binary students to explore their interests in computing and technology. Rather than being a teaching award, this award honors those who work inside and outside of classroom spaces to advocate for gender equity in computing by providing educational opportunities that are inclusive to — and supportive of — women, genderqueer, and non-binary students. Applications open in FIVE days! NCWIT
