Last week, the masterclass on leveraging partnership models to build an innovation ecosystem led by Abhijit (Jit) Banerjee, Associate Vice President of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at UConn, was a resounding success! This masterclass was part of the 20th cohort of the Nexus, a premier business incubator hosted at the American Center in New Delhi. After a warm introduction by Dave Moyer from the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, Dr. Banerjee delivered an engaging and comprehensive overview of Intellectual Property (IP), emphasizing its importance for universities, its potential in fostering industry collaborations, creating jobs, and addressing societal challenges. In collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, we launched the 20th cohort of the Nexus, a premier business incubator hosted at the American Center in New Delhi. This exclusive nine-week program is designed to equip startups with the essential tools and knowledge to scale and succeed. The day kicked off with opening remarks from Glenn Robinson, UConn Nexus Academic Director and Dr Divya Rajput, Nexus In-Country Director, followed by a warm welcome from David Moyer, Education and Cultural Affairs Counselor at the U.S. Embassy. In the afternoon, the cohort engaged in dynamic discussions, asking insightful questions and exploring key topics such as The Four Stages of Learning, startup disciplines, the commercialization process, market assessment, and ideal mentor profiles. The day also featured three rounds of elevator pitch sessions, with over half of the startups presenting—while the rest are set to pitch tomorrow. Looking ahead, participants will dive deeper into business modeling, customer discovery, funding strategies, and go-to-market planning in the coming weeks. The program will also feature expert-led workshops, mentor interactions, and pitch refinement sessions to help startups strengthen their ventures.
