关于我们
Since 1989, UC Law SF Journal on Gender & Justice (formerly the Hastings Women’s Law Journal and Hastings Journal on Gender and the Law), has provided a forum for voices outside the traditional scope of legal academic scholarship. We offer and maintain an inclusive space for feminism, race theory, queer theory, multiculturalism, animal rights, disability rights, language rights, international human rights, children’s rights, criminal defendants’ rights, victims' rights, criminal justice reform, among others. This perspective embraces difference and celebrates diversity. HJGL enhances the school’s academic diversity and contributes to scholarly thought by publishing articles and student notes that present a critical perspective of traditional legal discourse. We strongly believe that the law is a solution for the ills of the human condition, not merely a means of gaining and preserving privilege and position. To that end, HJGL is a progressive law journal that offers women and men the opportunity to work on provocative legal issues through a “traditional” journal experience.

Hello all! Please join the UC Law SF Journal on Gender and Justice in our upcoming symposium discussing Adultification Bias this Friday, April 5th, 2024. In 2017, researchers published the first empirical study on "Adultification Bias" of Black girls (Epstein, Blake & González, 2017). Adultification is a form of dehumanization, robbing black children of the very essence of what makes childhood distinct from all other developmental periods: innocence. Since then, "Adultification Bias" has moved into the legal lexicon with increasing frequency and a national movement has emerged that uses "Adultification Bias" to explicate intersectional biases against Black girls. Our panel will include respected scholars, multiple revered attorneys, and students all knowledgeable in this important topic. We invite you to join us in person or on Zoom. If you would like to attend, please fill out the?Registration Form here: https://bit.ly/jgjabs. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided to in-person attendees. Please see the attached flyer for more information about out panelists, as well as our Instagram (@uclawsf_jgj). We’re also happy to answer any questions at?[email protected]. We hope to see you there!
