关于我们
The Center for Diverse Leadership in Science (CDLS) is an organization that aims to bring positive disruption to the culture of geosciences and related green STEM disciplines. We do this by providing financial support, training, mentorship, and experiential learning opportunities for people in geosciences, education, and ethnic studies; facilitating collaboration and exchange of structurally excluded students and faculty between different institutions; engaging with tribal members to support equitable exchange that brings together Western STEM and Indigenous knowledge systems; and partnering with community-based organizations to support community-identified priorities and community-led projects.

????????UCLA graduate Rae Spriggs got their masters in Public Health to better understand the issues that affected their home in San Diego. They hope that in 10 years, there will be no need for CDLS, but for now, they are deeply committed to helping curious students of color graduate in STEM fields. Part of our storytelling as medicine project, each video shares a person's unique perspectives as an emerging environmental scientist in a field not built for them, at a time where they are desperately needed. They cover themes of identity, outreach, and mentorship, and are meant to support people finding strength by sharing their stories (medicine for themselves), and by inspiring others (medicine for people watching it), that helps to combat the traumas and harmful stereotypes of the dominant climate. Check out our video story telling project, where Rae tells their story. https://lnkd.in/gvVMkz9M #publichealth #diversity #stem #diversityinstem #urbanplanning
