UC Irvine Master of Engineering

This upcoming academic year I am excited to be attending the Samueli School of Engineering in the UC Irvine Master of Engineering program to obtain my master's of engineer, M.Eng, degree with a concentration in biomedical engineering. I have had a fantastic experience with my undergraduate education at Cal Poly SLO and will receive my B.S. in mechanical engineering in June. During my time at Cal Poly I have been given many opportunities to discover my true passions in the field of engineering, and I have found that pursuing medical technologies is what truly stands out to me. To achieve my career goals in the medical device field I decided that pursuing my master's at UCI would be a great next step. The M.Eng program with the concentration in BME aligns very well to my own aspirations and I am looking forward to the exciting courses, capstone project, and opportunities for career development it will present me with. Last Thursday, I had the pleasure to go to the NAHB International Builders' Show in Las Vegas to visit the Yazaki Innovations, Inc booth, our partner company for our UC Irvine Master of Engineering capstone project. Along with meeting the entire team with whom we are partnering, I had the pleasure to finally meet with our main liaisons, Michael Luzader and Antonio Aguero, who welcomed us and toured us through the show. It was great exploring and talking to all the companies while gaining knowledge on the electrical and BIM industry, which will help us better develop the project for them. Also, a big thanks to Haruhiko Casey Ohya, who has been providing us a lot of support and feedback for the development of this project since its start. I am also thankful for my teammates, Ruimin Xu and Sneheil S., who also joined me in coming to Las Vegas, creating even more value from this trip to IBS.

Great to have Vincent McDonell join us at Inari Medical/ LimFlow for the students mid term presentation. It was great seeing so many companies at BMES Industry Night on February 6th. I had an amazing time meeting and interacting with new contacts. Thank you to UC Irvine Master of Engineering and UCI Samueli School of Engineering for offering me the opportunity meet with industry leaders.

We’re excited to share that Inari Medical’s LimFlow R&D team is partnering with UCI Samueli School of Engineering to support and mentor their talented Master of Engineering students—all Biomedical Engineers—on their capstone project. This collaboration fosters innovation and creates opportunities to make a meaningful impact—both for our teams and, most importantly, for patients living with chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI). A big thank you to John Wainwright, PhD and Rowan Hettel to leading this partnership. Can’t wait to see the incredible ideas these bright minds will bring to life!
