Congratulations to our current doctoral student Enilda M. Velazquez on earning her Master's along-the-way! Next stop: Ph.D.
I’m thrilled to share that I have officially earned my Master’s degree in UCF - Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology ?from the University of Central Florida as part of my journey towards completing my PhD! I’m beyond grateful to be working in an academic community that fuels my passion for human factors applications in vision science! Further, I’m extremely thankful to have been awarded the SMART Scholarship to fund my studies at UCF, allowing me to focus on my academic coursework and research throughout my program.? Finally I want to say thank you to my mentors, colleagues, family and peers. Their support has been invaluable in reaching this point, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the PhD journey holds. Cheers to three of our current Ph.D. students Genna Telschow, Kristen Schmidt, and Sean Hinkle on their RADM Fred Lewis I/ITSEC Postgraduate Scholarship awards!
Last night I attended the I/ITSEC awards banquet in recognition of being awarded the RADM Fred Lewis I/ITSEC Postgraduate Scholarship. The preceding conference and the banquet were wonderful, so thank you to the NTSA and all the sponsors, departments, and branches that helped to put on these events! (Pictured is my fellow grad student Kristen Schmidt, who was also recognized last night)

HFC students - check out this opportunity!
Really excited to announce a unique opportunity for PhD students: Roblox is offering a TWO YEAR PHD FELLOWSHIP, which includes a stipend of $35,000 per year, possible internships, and opportunities to collaborate internally and on academic publications. While we're focusing across many possible topical areas, I'm specifically looking for candidates who would be interested in applying computational social science methods (machine learning, causal inference, scalable survey methods, etc.) to studying complex questions around Safety and Civility in interactive "metaverse" spaces, particularly for kids and teens. Candidates can come from human-computer interaction and other tech-focused social sciences, as well as computer science. More info and application here: https://lnkd.in/gKBfF7fv Only current PhD students and candidates are eligible, and they must have two full years of their graduate program remaining. [Also, FYI: the deadline is coming up very soon on August 15, 2024!]
