Did you know that more than half of Indonesia’s land mass is covered by forests? This puts the country at the frontline of the global fight against climate change. On a recent client climate insights trip to Indonesia, our team was able to catch up with terratai, one of our partners in the region who’s driving forward innovative nature-based solutions. We’re proud to announce our partnership and first contribution to the Global Fund for Coral Reefs Coalition, aimed at scaling up efforts to protect critical marine ecosystems. The work GFCR is doing across more than 20 coral reef states is pivotal to transitioning economies toward ones that safeguard biodiversity and coastal communities. From sustainable fisheries to innovative financing mechanisms like debt-for-nature swaps, blue carbon and reef credits, these are exactly the kinds of solutions that demonstrate how collaborative catalytic capital can create systemic change to address the problems of biodiversity loss and climate change. Do you know what an Income Share Agreement is? In Sub-Saharan Africa, 8 million young people are in tertiary education. That’s about 9% of young people – more than double the share in 2000, but it’s still far lower than the world average of about 40% or the average in North America & Western Europe of about 80%. CHANCEN International, one of our education partners, is on a mission to change this. Through an innovative, student-centric financing model called Income Share Agreements, they're working to offer young people in Africa access to vocational and higher education.
