Lyu's primary role was to ensure technical accuracy in demonstrating how deepfakes are generated. He provided background on deepfakes, explained the general workflow of using AI models to create them, and introduced key terminologies such as training data, generative models, model training, and machine learning. At the Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) Program | University at Buffalo (WiSE) Stem Outreach Day, we welcomed local high school students who are considering STEM career paths. The visit included hands-on demonstrations and mentoring opportunities. Thanks to shekoufeh sadeghi, PhD candidate, advised by Karthik Dantu, associate professor, Computer Science and Engineering | University at Buffalo, for bringing the Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science’s robot, Spark, to the event. ? The Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) STEM Outreach Program is a mentorship program specifically designed for high school students interested in pursuing STEM degrees. The program, funded by Amazon, is a partnership with seven high schools located in the greater Buffalo, NY area to build the mentorship program.
