Very Excited to share- Our team (NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration and IBM) released a Foundation Model (Prithvi WxC) for Weather and Climate. Prithvi WxC - An open-source foundation model of a 2.3 billion-parameter model, trained on 160 atmospheric variables from NASA's MERRA-2 dataset that can be customized for a variety of weather and climate-related applications. DEVELOP conducts feasibility studies that bridge the gap between Earth science information and society. Participants conduct 10-week research projects in interdisciplinary teams of 4-5 people, working closely with DEVELOP science advisors and mentors to apply Earth observations to address real-world problems.
