Congratulations to Dr. Brenda Taylor on completing her wonderful 35-year career providing compassionate patient care. Dr. Taylor has retired from UAB St. Vincent's Women's Health, and we thank her for the years of quality care she provided patients. ??

Dr. Hassan Alkhawam, UAB St. Vincent's Interventional and Structural Cardiologist, successfully performed Birmingham's first Navitor transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) procedure. "[This procedure is] an advanced option for patients with complex anatomy and high risk features, offering excellent outcomes with a precise fit and optimized performance. Proud to bring this cutting-edge technology to our community!" The minimally invasive device features three radiopaque markers that are designed to help doctors implant the device more precisely, and it covers native annulus diameters from 19 mm to 30 mm. Dr. Mustafa Ahmed, Director of Interventional Cardiology & Structural Heart Disease at UAB says that he is "excited to work with our world class teams at UAB St. Vincent's to bring new technologies to Birmingham to make sure our patients have every option available.”
