Illinois is considering legislation to allow community colleges to offer four-year degrees in high-demand fields like healthcare and manufacturing. The proposal, already implemented in 24 states, would let community colleges create programs to address regional gaps, with oversight from the IBHE.

Thank you for providing us the chance to attend the 2025 University Aviation Association Policy Seminar! Incredibly grateful for the experience and opportunity!
This past week United Aviate Academy students attended the University Aviation Association (UAA) Policy Seminar, where they had the opportunity to engage with key stakeholders in the aviation industry, including representatives from the FAA, NTSB, NBAA, and board members of the Royal Aeronautical Society at Airbus. During the seminar, they gained in-depth knowledge of aviation policy, had the chance to ask questions to policymakers, and deepened their understanding of the industry’s intricacies in Washington, D.C. This experience also provided opportunities for networking, allowing students to build connections with professionals across the sector and contribute to the advancement of aviation as a whole. Growing up, most people change their minds 10’s of times on what they want to be when they grow up. At one point in time I wanted to be an elementary teacher, nurse, geologist, math teacher, hospitality manager, and now, anything to do with aviation. Each career goal I was certain that was the one for me. Starting fresh with a new major 2 years ago was scary. What if this passion for aviation was only temporary, just as every one before had been? Now, I can confidently say, that is not the case. Attending the University Aviation Association Policy Seminar in 2024 confirmed that I was on the right path. Attending the seminar in 2025 was just icing on the cake. Listening to other aviation enthusiasts share their passion and love for the industry was truly inspiring. I had never been in the same room with so many people that shared my same career goals and it was so reassuring. Thank you to the University Aviation Association for putting on such a great seminar. Inspirational. Educational. Motivational. Here’s to a future in the best industry in the sky.
