关于我们

The United States Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation (USNA AA&F) are NON-FEDERAL ENTITIES. USNA AA&F IS NOT A PART OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE OR ANY OF ITS COMPONENTS. The appearance of U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) or the United States Naval Academy visual information or marks does not imply or constitute DoD endorsement, and the views presented on this channel post do not necessarily represent the views of USNA, DoD, or its components. For more than a century, the U.S. Naval Academy Association & Foundation has worked to advance the interests, priorities and mission of the U.S. Naval Academy. In 1886, Lieutenant Commander Charles Belknap, Class of 1867, formed the U.S. Naval Academy Graduates Association. The first dinner was held during June Week, 1886. As the Association grew, so did its need for resources. Through the generous efforts of the Association's chapters, an endowment was established to help fund the organization, hire staff, create programs and eventually create Shipmate Magazine, which would help “bind the ties” of alumni. In 1931, the Association’s Board of Governors formed a new organization that would include non-graduates as well as graduates of the Naval Academy in its membership. In May 1931, the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association was incorporated in Washington, DC. On 6 October 1947, the Alumni Association was incorporated in the state of Maryland. With each passing year, alumni, staff and the wider USNA community have contributed to the rich and distinguished history of the Association & Foundation. Our mission is to preserve and celebrate the customs, traditions and Sea Stories that bind and enrich our organization and help to strengthen the life-long bonds that our alumni treasure.

  • Today we remember LTjg Arthur Bennett, III ’71, USN was lost 50 years ago today at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, when the wing of his A-6E Intruder aircraft failed after pullout from a bombing run. He was a member of Attack Squadron (VA) 34. The accident occurred when he was flying a close air support training mission from USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) over a Marine landing exercise. After losing its wing, the aircraft tumbled and, although the bombardier/navigator was able to eject, Arthur was unable to do so while jettisoning bombs and fuel tanks. He was survived by his father (Arthur Bennett, Jr. ’46), sister, and brother.

  • Some learners take a little more convincing🐐 . . . Luckily, getting midshipmen to The Class of 1963 Center for Academic Excellence (CAE), endowed by J. Ronald Terwilliger ‘63 and Classmates, is much easier—they know the CAE is the key to mastering their coursework and excelling at the Naval Academy. Thanks to our generous donors, midshipmen have access to top-tier tutoring, study skills workshops, and the Writing Center to help them succeed. Learn more about the CAE’s impact → https://lnkd.in/esQbF5nR #WheresBillWednesday No goats or academic mentors were harmed in the photo—just a little coaxing involved.

  • We couldn’t do it without the classes! Classes volunteer in many ways to benefit the Naval Academy. They elect class officers who keep track of their classmates and spouses and coordinate their class reunions and get-togethers to strengthen bonds. Volunteers form committees for Another Link in the Chain to serve as mentors for midshipmen all 4 years at the Academy. Many classmates serve as Blue & Gold Officers to recruit the next generation of midshipmen. Classes also choose major fundraising projects and rally their classmates to make major gifts back to the Academy to support the Margin of Excellence. It all begins with the classes!
