Pine Bluff Arsenal was established Nov. 3, 1941, by the War Department to manufacture and assemble incendiary munitions. The mission has expanded to make it unique among military installation. The Arsenal, under the command of the U.S. Army Materiel Command and the U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command, serves a critical need for the domestic production of illuminating, infrared, phosphorus and smoke munitions. As a Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence (CITE) for Chemical and Biological Defense Equipment, Smoke Ammunition and Textile Manufacturing, the Arsenal is responsible for a variety of products that save lives and protect the Warfighter.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Pine Bluff Arsenal #AmericasArsenal Family Advocacy Program seeks to raise awareness and provide support to those who are victims of domestic violence. This year, there are two campaign themes: “What’s Inside Matters” and “Pause”. “What’s Inside Matters” speaks to survivors of abuse or those who notice risk factors for harmful behaviors by their partner. “Pause” speaks to those who recognize their engagement in potentially harmful behavior toward their partner and seek help. Since the development of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in 1987, a movement has sparked not only raising awareness and prevention but also providing immense support to victims of domestic violence. Those who experience domestic violence should not face it alone and know about the resources available to them. Domestic violence can happen to anyone, anytime. We are committed to the safety and well-being of our military community. We must remember that domestic violence is not only a local problem, but a global problem. Together, let us unite by breaking the silence to end domestic violence! #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth
