The Army’s Biggest Challenges Need Big Solutions.??? Army Signal and Cyber Warrant Officers are tackling one of the Army’s most complex problems - ?? How do we evolve CEMA (Cyber-Electromagnetic Activities) to meet the demands of Multi-Domain Operations (MDO)? ?? Army Warrant Officers attending the Signal and Cyber Warrant Officer Intermediate Level Education Course took on this challenge, diving deep into research, engaging with key organizations like the Department of the Army Management Office – Strategic Operations (DAMO-SO), United States Army Forces Command (FORSCOM), United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), United States Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER), XVIII Airborne Corps, 82nd Airborne Division, the 3rd Infantry Division (3ID), and the 4th Infantry Division (4ID), and identified critical gaps in doctrine, training, and operational integration. This class of assorted Signal and Cyber warrant officers from all components of the Army - Active Duty, Army Reserve, and National Guard, brought together a wide range of expertise and operational perspectives. The mission? To provide Cyber Center of Excellence (CCoE) leadership with actionable recommendations to shape the future of CEMA operations and maintain Army lethality in Multi-Domain Operations. It’s more than an academic exercise - it’s about staying ahead in the information battlefield, where cyber, electromagnetic warfare, and signals intelligence are decisive factors in mission success. The work doesn’t stop here. Now, it’s time to turn insights into impact. ??? What’s the biggest gap you see in Army CEMA doctrine, training, or operations today? Drop your thoughts below. ?? Always good to reflect on where we started! ?? ??Did you know the Army’s first computer was unveiled 79 years ago? Specifically on 15 February 1946. Some of the most notable scientists in the nation were invited to a demonstration of the Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer, aka ENIAC. This computer was a joint effort between the U.S. Army and the University of Pennsylvania. ?? ENIAC is considered to be the first electronic, general-purpose, and programmable computer. Several other computers of varying degrees came before ENIAC, but it was the first to incorporate all of these traits into a single machine. During the demonstration, ENIAC successfully produced a set of missile trajectory calculations in fifteen seconds that would have formerly taken a group of humans weeks to calculate. ENIAC could perform 5,000 operations per second, it had 18,000 vacuum tubes, it took up 1,000 square feet of floor space, and it weighed 30 tons. ??
