???? The U-AGREE project extends a huge thank you to all participants who joined us at EUROCONTROL Brussels for our first Stakeholder Workshop on Assessing Risk within U-space! The discussions were insightful, covering key topics such as risk assessment methodologies (e.g., SORA), operational scenarios, regulatory frameworks, and U-space-based risk mitigation. The active engagement from stakeholders was invaluable in shaping our approach to identifying and prioritizing risks in UAS operations. ???? U-AGREE – Advancing Risk Management for #Drone #Operations Drone operations and expectations are evolving rapidly, creating a need to update existing methods for risk assessment and mitigation. The newly launched #UAGREE project aims to improve risk assessment processes and adapt them to modern operational scenarios. ?? Before the use of drones in #urban areas can be achieved, comprehensive traffic management services - known as U-space - need to be implemented. The establishment of U-space requires clear safety and performance standards for both drones and the services provided. These are based on Airspace Risk Assessments (#ARA), which evaluate the potential damage from incidents or unexpected events. ?? The current standard, Specific Operations Risk Assessment (#SORA), is widely used from ARA but has limitations when dealing with modern drone technologies and U-space services. U-AGREE aims to: ? Develop quantitative risk models for air and ground safety, ? Incorporate multi-dimensional risks, including safety, privacy and environmental factors, ? Integrate U-space services as key risk mitigators. The DLR-Institut für Flugführung is leading the development of advanced mathematical air risk models and contributing expertise from its research into bird and drone collision impacts. By introducing these innovations, U-AGREE will help pave the way for the safe and scalable integration of drones into urban airspace, driving the future of urban air mobility. ?? Happy to share that the U-AGREE project, part of the SESAR Joint Undertaking programme, is working to enhance #risk #assessment processes for #drone #operations. Coordinated by the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), this initiative aims to adapt assessments to evolving operational scenarios and U-space services. The project addresses key limitations of the widely used SORA standard by developing quantitative air and ground risk models. These models will factor in #safety, #security, #privacy, and #environmental impacts while incorporating U-space services as risk mitigators. ??
