关于我们
The Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation (Tzu Chi USA) is a volunteer-based international non-governmental organization established by Dharma Master Cheng Yen in Hualien, Taiwan, in 1966. From 30 housewives saving 50 NT cents (approx. US 2 cents) from their grocery budget per day to help those in need, Tzu Chi’s footprints of humanitarian aid have now reached 102 countries and regions. The foundation provides community and social services, national and international disaster relief, medical and charitable assistance, education, environmental protection, and a bone marrow donor registry while promoting humanistic values and community volunteerism. Tzu Chi USA, the foundation’s first chapter outside Taiwan, was established in Alhambra, CA, in 1989. Stephen Huang, an American businessman, had visited Master Cheng Yen in Hualien, and meeting this gentle nun, who created a powerful organization and realized seemingly impossible dreams, all for the benefit of others, changed his life. He became a disciple and vowed to bring the spirit and mission of Tzu Chi to the United States. Today, Tzu Chi USA has 66 offices and facilities nationwide, with volunteers and donors striving to make a difference in their communities, serving others unconditionally, and sowing seeds of love and kindness in the Americas.

On November 4, 2024, Tzu Chi USA Northwest Region Office in San Jose hosted the first of a series of California National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) training days. Participants enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere of the campus and the sense of solidarity brought on by the conference. The conference’s topic was disaster response and recovery, and how volunteer organizations like Tzu Chi can better work together during times of crisis. What VOAD does is educate and strengthen organizations so that they can respond more effectively to the typical disasters in their area. Watch on to learn more. #TzuChiUSA #VOAD #DisasterRelief #DisasterPreparedness #CompassionInAction

The Mountain Fire broke out in Ventura County northwest of Los Angeles on November 6, 2024. As of November 15, the wildfire has burned 19,904 acres of land, of which 91% of the fire was under control; however, the rapidly spreading fire destroyed 243 buildings, damaged 127 buildings, injured six people, and forced tens of thousands of residents to evacuate their homes. In order to help residents affected by wildfires, nine volunteers from Tzu Chi USA HQ went to the Local Assistance Center established by the Ventura County Government on November 15 and 16, caring for the survivors and distributing emergency relief cash cards and environmentally friendly blankets. "We came to LAC early in the morning to attend a briefing. It has been confirmed that as of yesterday, LAC has completed the registration of more than 60 survivors' families." David Hoy, a volunteer in charge of the charity emergency relief work of the HQ explained: "Our initial plan is to come to LAC for two days to complete simultaneous registration of disaster victims, on-site disaster investigation and issuance of emergency relief cash cards.” #TzuChiUSA #DisasterRelief #CompassionInAction #Wildfires #HumanitarianAid

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, many families in the impacted areas found themselves needing to rebuild. This can be hard, especially in areas where relief assistance isn’t widely available. At Tzu Chi USA’s Hurricane Helene relief distribution in North Carolina on 11/10, we were able to meet Jennifer Betesh as she shared her experience from when the hurricane affected her and her husband’s 4-acre farm home. For what she calls “The Second Flood”, the amount of devastation caused by Hurricane Helene to her home resulted in the most kind, thoughtful, and meaningful relief assistance provided by people from all over, even neighboring states. You are never in this alone and help can come from even strangers. This is shown by Jennifer’s incredible story, which you can hear from our video. Also find how you can play a part in helping us make a difference with Giving Tuesday! ?? https://lnkd.in/erBsYaDz #TzuChiUSA #TheSecondFlood #HurricaneHelene #ReliefEffort #Community #Kindness #GivingTuesday2024

We truly attain the Dharma when we walk the path and practice it. We can extend a hand to help those who are suffering. We can accompany those who are deluded back onto the right path.
