TYLIN IN THE IABSE AWARDS 2024, ZURICH ??On 12 Novembre, the #iabseawards2024 ceremony took place in Zurich. Three projects with TYLin participation were recognized by IABSE in different categories: ?Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, India, IABSE 2024 Award for “Infrastructure” category ?Nuevo puente de Boca del Cerro, Mexico, IABSE 2024 Finalist for “Small road and rail bridges” category ?Michigan Central Station, USA, IABSE 2024 Finalist for “Rehabilitation” category ??From TYLin | Europe + LATAM we are specially grateful for the recognition of the New Boca del Cerro Bridge. Located in southern Mexico, near Tenosique, Tabasco, and with a main span of 160 meters and two lateral spans of 30 meters each, it is the longest span structure of Section 1 of the new “Mayan Train”. The new bridge is located in a protected natural environment, at the end of the Usumacinta River canyon, and in a landscape marked by the presence of the 1950 arch bridge, which has become an icon of the region. ??The structure consists of a variable depth composite (steel & concrete) truss, with a configuration inspired by that of the original bridge and with a dark green finish to ensure that it blends in with the colors of the landscape. ??The new bridge, located parallel to the arch bridge, was designed to respect both the natural landscape and the historical and cultural value of the original bridge, which still retains its importance and prominence. These qualities have undoubtedly contributed to its place among the best bridges in the world this year. From TYLin we would like to congratulate to Mota-Engil México, as the main contractor for its great work, to Recal , as the steel workshop that has executed the steel structure, and VSL International Ltd., responsible for the mobile lifting frames for the transport of the steel segments, which allowed the independent execution of the river. "I haven't met anyone who loves congestion, have you?" ? New York City has some of the worst traffic in the world, with drivers spending an average of more than 100 hours per year at a standstill. In the coming weeks, the city will be the first in the US to implement congestion pricing, a fee to drive into the central business district. The toll is expected to both cut traffic and raise needed revenue for the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA), North America’s largest public transit agency, but one of the biggest challenges to its enactment has been in overcoming negative public perceptions. We provided structural engineering services for the new Kum & Go corporate headquarters in Des Moines, IA. Energy-efficient elements such as a green roof and generous roof overhangs earned the building LEED Gold certification. ?? https://lnkd.in/gyEPfTAS Designed to provide flexibility for growth, the steel-framed building features four vast planes enhanced by outdoor terraces and glass on all sides. Occupants enjoy natural light-filled, column-free workspaces with views of the surrounding streetscape and park. The showpiece of the building is its perimeter exterior cantilevered framing. The extreme cantilevers produced significant deflections and torsion at the outrigger end point, which was mitigated by kinking the outriggers up at their support point.

We have been entrusted with the maintenance of the Bob Graham Sunshine Skyway Bridge since 2015. This landmark 4.1-mile bridge crosses Tampa Bay and carries over 50,000 vehicles daily. ?? https://lnkd.in/ggGRk99U Our in-depth knowledge of the cable-stayed crossing includes a path to extend its service life beyond 100 years.
