Join Tyler's nationally recognized Printmaking program this Friday for a public presentation by visiting artist Kate VanVliet on a print project that she completed while in residence in Printmaking’s Advanced Etching Class.? ? VanVliet is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Philadelphia, PA, and recently completed a 2024 New Voices fellowship and exhibition at the International Print Center of New York.? ? She is also notably the director of BYO Printmaking Collaborative, a nonprofit community printshop that she co-founded in 2010 as an artist collective. In this talk, Buie will discuss her most recent exhibition, Revisionist History. Buie will give insight into her process as a printmaker utilizing the technique to explore her own personal familial history while centering on themes of Black cultural significance. Shuman Lecture: Masafumi Yukimoto (BSArch '98), Komy Studio Tyler alum Masafumi Yukimoto has established an architectural and interior design studio based in his hometown of Takasaki, Japan, and Tokyo that focuses on experimentation with process, materials and fabrication. He will explore his experiences studying and working in the U.S., and how, upon returning to Japan, he integrated the perspectives gained from American practices into his work, particularly emphasizing the concept of 'making' in architecture.
