"Tyler's Angels On Earth Network" was created in 1999 as a way to honor the people and organizations in Tyler Denman's circle who have been instrumental in both enriching and enhancing his quality of life. However, it quickly turned into a networking system to assist military families who were having difficulty maneuvering the military health care system, and who were being denied life-sustaining medical care for their loved-one(s). Over the years, Tyler has been the inspiration behind numerous military healthcare policy changes involving the Department of Defense's (DOD) handling of military dependents with permanent skilled level home health care needs. He personally made three trips to Washington, D.C. between 1999 to 2002, accompanied by his mother and various nurse Angels, to visit with members of the House and Senate to inform them, educate them, and persuade them to change those discriminatory policies. His mother was asked to testify before Congress twice to bring awareness to the plight of military families, and help form a grass-roots movement comprised of military moms and dads facing similar challenges. Tyler is a true patriot, and has inspired changes on a federal level that benefit countless military families around the globe. His struggles directly lead to the DOD's "Echo" Program for military dependents ~ a program championed and facilitated by Senator Ted Kennedy and both Congressmen Jack Murtha and Ronald Hobson. He also managed to spark the curiosity of then President Bill Clinton, who took the time to have a one-on-one visit with Tyler, which Tyler proceeded to sleep through! :) If you are a military family with a disabled individual in your home who has had difficulty in obtaining medical care through the military health care system, AKA Champus/TRICARE, please contact us.
