U-Haul Ranks Tyler in Top 25 Growth Metros TYLER, Texas – Tyler has earned a prominent place in the latest U-Haul ranking of the Top 25 Metro Areas for growth and relocation, cementing its status as one of the most desirable destinations in the U.S. for movers and newcomers. The annual list, which highlights cities experiencing substantial movement from one-way U-Haul transactions, places Tyler among the nation's most thriving cities. The ranking is a direct reflection of the Tyler area’s growing appeal, offering an affordable cost of living, abundant job opportunities and vibrant lifestyle. U-Haul, a national leader in do-it-yourself moving, bases its rankings on data from millions of one-way truck rentals, analyzing the migration patterns of customers moving in and out of the city. 2024 is the first year that metros have been included in the company’s annual growth report and rankings. In recent years, Tyler has seen an influx of residents and new businesses attracted to the area's thriving economy, excellent schools, and high quality of life. "This ranking solidifies Tyler’s strong economic growth," said TEDC President, Scott Martinez. "Living and working here means enjoying a low cost of living, a welcoming environment, and a city where its leaders are committed to growth and innovation. We are thrilled to see Tyler's rising status reflected in this national ranking." “I think people are moving to the Tyler metro area to leave the hustle and bustle of the Dallas-Fort Worth area behind,” said Warren Iles, U-Haul Company of Northern Louisiana president, whose territory includes northeast Texas. “Tyler has a great school system. A lot of the schools around the city are growing like crazy because of the amount of people and kids that are moving into the area. Job opportunities seem to be increasing. Brookshire Grocery is headquartered in Tyler and has a massive operation there, which employs a lot of people in the area.” With 25 metro areas on the list, Dallas was ranked as No. 1, with Austin, Houston and Tyler, following. No other Texas cities were included. This ranking reinforces Tyler's growing reputation as a hub for relocation and growth. 2024 U-Haul Growth Metros 1. Dallas, TX 2. Charlotte, NC 3. Phoenix, AZ 4. • As we begin 2025, we embark on a year-long celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Chamber. The Tyler Commercial Club was formed in 1900 by local business leaders in response the growing demand for an organized group to support economic development and promotion of Tyler and its businesses. Their mission was to boost the local economy by working on projects that would improve infrastructure, promote local businesses, and attract new industries and residents. In 1918, the Tyler Commercial Club transitioned to become the Tyler Chamber of Commerce, and the organization began to play an instrumental role in advocating for better transportation, facilities, and services for the region. With 662 members, it was, at the time, the largest chamber in a town of Tyler’s size in the U.S. During the past 125 years, the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce has grown to include more than 2,000 business organizations and individuals whose scope of activities includes broad community development initiatives that contribute to the overall prosperity of Tyler and the entire East Texas region.
