TXST has set several new enrollment records for the spring 2025 semester, led by a total enrollment of 37,567 students, surpassing the 37,000 mark for the spring semester for the first time. The growth in enrollment can be attributed to the university's commitment to student satisfaction and success. The number of continuing students has increased by 5%, or 1,698 students, compared to last spring. https://lnkd.in/gS9MtNsp

I had a wonderful opportunity to speak at the Water Forum & discuss alternative water sources, including desalination and water reuse, for Central Texas with many professionals in Austin yesterday afternoon! I am so grateful for the kind invitation from EC Chi, the International Director of the Williamson County Economic Development Partnership, for organizing this forum, as well as Cushing Terrell (James Foster, AIA, LFA) and Flintco, LLC (Yongzoo Cho) for the beautiful venue & sponsorship! We need a lot of water for sustainable development & continuous growth in Central Texas. Fortunately, we have resources available & these are technically and economically feasible. Today the #WRTX Research Committee held our first meeting of 2025, coming together to advance Texas reuse research and identify ways to engage students in #waterreuse research. It was also our first meeting in 2025 with our new Chair at the helm—Keisuke Ikehata, PhD, of Texas State University. Keisuke spent eight years at a water resources engineering firm before making the move to academia. In 2019, he joined Texas State as one of four founding faculty members of their new civil engineering program. As the previous Research Committee Vice-Chair and the inaugural recipient of the WRTX Reuse Impact Award, recognized for his contributions to advancing reuse and mentoring the next generation, Keisuke will no doubt use both his expertise and relationships in his new role. As he explains, “Our committee has identified key research areas to support the widespread adoption of reuse in our state. Success will depend on strong collaboration among utilities, consulting engineers, technology providers, regulators, and academics. As Chair, I aim to serve as a catalyst for fostering these vital partnerships.” Interested in working with our committee to move the science of #reuse forward? From its founding as SouthwestTexas State Normal School in 1899 as a teaching college to SWT… Texas State University has continually been a significant and growing part of Texas’s story of impact. Can't think of a better way to celebrate 125 years than with my friend, Kelly Damphousse and the incredible UFCU team that brings our partnership to life. It is a great day to be a Bobcat and the best is yet to come!!!
