The numbers are in!* ?? Texas generated 169,442 gigawatt-hours from wind, utility-scale solar and small-scale #solar in 2024, significantly more than the runner-up, California (at 92,316 gigawatt-hours). ?? Small-scale solar systems (1 MW or less) generated 84,630 megawatt-hours — up 15.3%. HOWEVER, some #Texas lawmakers want to stifle this fast-growing industry. ?? THIS THURSDAY: The Senate Business & Commerce Committee will hear testimony on SB 819, which is an attack on #RenewableEnergy. The bill would impose excessive permitting and siting regulations on renewables and energy storage projects, such as: ? Requiring several extra steps for permitting renewable energy that do not apply to other types of power plants. ? Creating a new fee for solar and wind facilities. ? More red tape on permitting processes designed to slow the growth of wind and solar.** Contact your TX Senators on Business and Commerce to voice your opposition & demand they protect clean energy in order to protect our grid and keep costs down for all Texans. * Data from U.S. Energy Information Administration ** Per Sierra Club Lone Star Chapter Read article here: https://lnkd.in/gd-_ztia #TexasSolar #TXLege #TXCleanEnergy #TexasSenate #TexasLegislature #SB819

关于我们
Our mission: equitable access to solar energy for every Texan. Because we envision a world where our children will grow up in a clean, safe climate, TXSES supports bold solutions to educate and inspire every Texan to adopt solar energy as part of an equitable, 100% clean energy future. For nearly 50 years, TXSES has been the pre-eminent statewide organization developing free thought-leading, independent, fact-based educational materials that inspire innovation, share best practices and inform decision-makers on the critical importance of sound, favorable solar policies that will grow the industry; protect clean air; build healthy, resilient communities; support local, well-paying jobs; and lay the foundation for building a strong solar foundation for a 100% clean energy future for Texas, one community at a time. A membership-based organization, TXSES’s unique niche is exemplified in our well-established local chapters in Austin, Dallas, El Paso, Houston and San Antonio. Having boots on the ground in these major metropolitan cities, which represent nearly a quarter of Texas’s 29 million citizens, enables our gifted, dedicated experts to disseminate fact-based, relevant solar information. www.TXSES.org

Happy National Renewable Energy Day! ?? Did you know that #SolarEnergy provides numerous benefits in addition to it's environmental impact? Other benefits include reducing electricity bills, increasing home value, providing energy independence, and stabilizing our #Texas grid. Texas leads the nation in #RenewableEnergy generation and battery capacity, having installed an estimated 80% more combined solar, wind and battery capacity than the next largest state, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Just yesterday, solar in the #ERCOT region "crossed 26,000 megawatts for the first time ever, meeting >56% (!) of demand (also a record). Previous solar record was exceeded by 1,316 megawatts. Earlier this week wind & solar combined for 39,946 megawatts,, nearly 1,000 megawatts more than the previous record," according to energy expert Doug Lewin. https://lnkd.in/gd-_ztia #NationalRenewableenergyDay #solar #SolarPower #renewables #CleanEnergy #TexasEnergy #TexasSolar

The Texas Senate passed Senate Bill 388 yesterday, a bill aimed at curtailing #solar, wind and battery storage development. This is the session’s first major attack on #renewables in Texas, and more are coming (keep an eye on SB 819*). All at a time when we need more energy, fast. At the same time, #Texas added more renewables by far than any other state last year, and it has saved us from power outages during last summer's heat waves, this winter's artic blasts, and this spring's winds. What does that mean for our state and our nation? https://lnkd.in/gVJGDtED *The Senate Business & Commerce Committee may hear SB 819 next week. It would impose excessive permitting and siting regulations on renewables and energy storage projects only. #txlege #txenergy Doug Lewin

Solar, wind & batteries are breaking records in ERCOT so far this month. Last week, renewables on the ERCOT grid set new records for most wind production, most #solar production, and greatest battery discharge. On March 2nd, renewables provided 76% of demand, the highest to date, with March 4th & 6th hovering just below as 2nd & 4th all-time highest days for renewable usage. https://lnkd.in/eQakuAbK #SolarEnergy #SolarPower #SolarTexas #TexasGrid #ERCOT #TXlege #RenewableEnergyTexas #CleanEnergyTexas
