URGENT: Tell YOUR Members of Congress to Cosponsor HR 879 to Reverse the Medicare Cuts On January 1, 2025, a 2.8% Medicare physician payment cut took effect! A bipartisan bill has been introduced in Congress – HR 879 “The Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act” – that will reverse the latest round of Medicare payment cuts in full and also provide a partial inflation increase. Specifically, the legislation stops the 2.8% payment cut from January 1 - December 31, 2025, and provides a partial inflation update of 2% Congress has begun work on a March legislative package to keep the government funded past the current March 14 deadline. The California Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA) and other stakeholders in The House of Medicine are strongly urging Congress to adopt HR 879, the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act as part of the package. TAKE ACTION TODAY! https://lnkd.in/gF2KEqhT Physicians are urged to contact their representatives today and ask them to cosponsor the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act. A sample letter is provided, but you are encouraged to add your stories about how the ongoing cuts have affected the sustainability of your practice and/or your patients’ access to care. Examples include: ? Having to limit or close your practice to Medicare patients (for example, not accepting new Medicare patients) ? Patients waiting longer for appointments or referrals ? BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD (BCBS) PROVIDER ANTITRUST SETTLEMENT WEBINAR In 2024, a settlement was reached in a long-running class action lawsuit against Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) brought by physicians, hospitals, large health systems, and provider organizations. The lawsuit alleged a range of antitrust violations by BCBS, including price fixing and allocating markets using exclusive service areas. Under the settlement agreement, Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans have agreed to implement changes that will benefit physicians and other providers by increasing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in claims processing, including the process of BlueCard claims. If you or your business provided health care services, equipment, or supplies to Blues Plan enrollees, anytime from July 24, 2008, to October 4, 2024, you may be eligible to submit a claim for your share of the $2.8 billion Provider Settlement. The settlement is the largest antitrust settlement in the history of the U.S. healthcare sector. The Provider Settlement claims period is open until July 29, 2025. The deadline to opt out of the settlement is March 4, 2025.
