?? Another win for our Texas Media Production Industry as we are one step closer to certifying a new ZONE (first County!) and LOCATION for the Media Production Development Zone! Get ready, y'all-- Texas is about to get a lot more expansive in what we have to offer in ways of soundstages, mill, production office space, backlot and more!!
We did it! ?? Bastrop County has officially become the FIRST county to nominate a ZONE and LOCATION for the Media Production Development Zone—showing their commitment to growing the studio infrastructure and film industry in Texas. First up? Alton Butler II’s exciting project, which will bring multiple studios, a mill, production office space, and a sprawling backlot—everything needed to make Bastrop a premier hub for media production! Alton has long believed Bastrop County is the perfect place for studio development, and now, we’re one step closer to making it happen. At The Shine Company, we were proud to support both Bastrop County and Alton through the application process. These applications can be complex and time-consuming, but with our expertise, we help take that burden off their shoulders—allowing them to focus on what they do best: creating jobs, opportunities, and lasting economic impact. Next stop? The Texas Film Commission and Texas Comptroller’s Office! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped move this project forward—we can’t wait to see those shovels hit the ground! ??? Below-- a video with Lewis Adena presenting the project to the Commissioners Court for Bastrop County. Heather Page

Monumental News From the Texas Capitol! $500 Million Every Biennium for a Decade TXMPA extends our deepest gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick for his exceptional, steadfast support of our industry, and to Senator Joan Huffman and Representative Todd Hunter for their leadership in championing this historic effort. Their commitment to Texas' film, television, video gaming, and digital media industries is truly remarkable. With the filing of SB 22 and HB 4568, these bills represent an unprecedented show of support, proposing a level of funding our incentive program has never seen - $2.5 billion over 10 years. This transformational investment would create jobs, strengthen our creative economy, solidify Texas as a top destination for media production and ensure Texas stories are told by Texans in Texas. Our Executive Director Fred Poston had this to say, “This funding will position Texas as a leader in film, television and interactive media production, driving economic growth statewide and creating countless opportunities for media professionals. The return on investment is undeniable—this commitment would solidify Texas as a powerhouse for entertainment production.”

How does SXSW impact local cinemas, both in spring and year-round? What determines where films are placed at each venue? It’s a combination of instinct and data, according to Gabe Van Amburgh. “Whenever we’re programming the films, we’re not just programming it because we love it. That’s like the first thing that draws us to it, but we start to think, this film is going to work at noon at the Paramount or this is a great 7 p.m. on Sunday at the AFS cinema.” #austinindie #indiecinema #sxsw
