.Justin Yancy testified today in front of the Senate Committee on Water, Agriculture, and Rural Affairs: “If Texas is to remain, and become more, globally competitive, now is the time for the legislature to take decisive action on our water supply challenges. This Legislature has the opportunity to make a generational investment that will protect our economic future by allocating $5 billion to jumpstart critical water projects and by asking voters to approve a constitutional amendment to fund a dedicated, sustainable revenue source to provide $1 billion annually to ensure long-term stability."

Yesterday Kelle Kieschnick, TBLC VP of Policy, testified in support of HB 123 (Dutton) in the House Pub Ed Committee. Building on HB 1605 from last session, this bill takes bold steps to improve student outcomes. By identifying academic struggles early through required literacy and numeracy screening for K-3 students, intervening effectively, and empowering educators and families with the tools they need to help students improve, this bill lays the foundation for a more skilled workforce and a more competitive Texas.?

Thank you Charlie Amato and SWBC Foundation for supporting this important initiative. Proud to have the National Medal of Honor Museum in Texas - opening in just a few days!
The SWBC Foundation is honored to be a supporter of the National Medal of Honor Museum! In August 2024, we had the privilege of speaking with Major General Patrick Brady about his remarkable military journey, the profound significance of the Medal of Honor, and the museum's vital role in preserving these heroic stories. General Brady shared, "The whole focus was we realized the medal doesn't make us special, but it does allow us to do special things and that's why we have a character development program. That's why this museum is so important." The museum aims to inspire future generations by showcasing how Medal of Honor recipients have contributed to building and shaping our nation. It will focus on the values of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism, demonstrating that heroism can be found in everyday actions and decisions. "We're going to show the young people of this country that they can be heroes,” he said. “And they don't have to go to combat to be a hero." Thank you, General Brady, for sharing your incredible story and insights. Your experiences and dedication continue to inspire us all. #MedalOfHonor #NationalMedalOfHonorMuseum #SWBC #Veterans #Patriotism #Courage #Sacrifice #Heroism

The lack of letter grades in recent years means many, many campuses have worked hard to improve without recognition via a higher letter grade. Many districts across the state (Dallas, Garland, Uplift & others in Dallas County alone) self-released scores this school year, but consistent reporting should not be a nice-to-have. It’s a critical tool to evaluate our $80 billion annual education system and reward schools that are achieving excellence.
Over 80% of Texas voters agree: To help students and families make more informed decisions about their futures, they must be aware of how well schools in their districts are performing. Learn more about the importance of the Accountability system here: https://ow.ly/X9vF50Vgygs

In 2001, Texas set a precedent by enacting the Texas Dream Act, which grants eligible undocumented students access to in-state tuition rates at public colleges and universities. However, recent developments underscore the pressing need to safeguard Texas’ commitment to educational accessibility. Read more: https://ow.ly/oRew50Vcfc3
