Some people ask “Why ‘twrk’?” or “How did you come up with the name?”… ?? I was in a red light machine. That is it. It felt like one of those near-magical moments where everything just made sense. ? I wish I could chalk this story up to intelligence or some sort of very intentional process. But the fact is that the name came to me when there was no context for it whatsoever. It’s like it revealed itself. And, when it came to me, I realized, “That’s it. That’s the name of the company.” For some reason, it made sense to me. There was 0% doubt. ??The fact that it’s a double entendre is a complete (happy) accident. ?? The fact that this happened so effortlessly is what makes me in love with the story of our company’s name. No hype. No stress. It felt meant to be. ?? The fact that the name embodies an attitude that flies in the face of the static, cold, boring, and stressful tedium that is inherent to job searching… well, that’s just a bonus. ?? And that’s kind of the whole point of our entire company. ??Join us as a Beta tester to get first access to our app the instant it’s ready (which will be soon!) https://twrk.com/beta-test

?? Apparently, there are too many interviewees appearing on their video interviews all jacked-up looking. This isn't great, people. It's better for you not to appear on video at all than for you to be half-dressed with cat hair hanging from your ear. ?? But, if there is a video interview scheduled, the ideal situation is: ? You'll show up on video (it is expected that you will unless you're sick); ? You'll look like you're taking it seriously by being dressed and groomed appropriately; ? You won't be in the dark. ?? We hate to even have to say this stuff out loud, but these are common complaints that we hear ALL the time. ( #themoreyouknow ) https://lnkd.in/gxa7M7Rv #interviewtips #jobsearch #remotework

?? We started twrk because job searching sucks, and we know there’s a better way… because we’re building it. Let’s face it: we’ve been job searching using, essentially, the same tools for over 20 years. Keywords and filters aren’t cutting it. It still takes the average American 5 months to find a job. This. Is. Ridiculous. ?? There are plenty of tools to help employers, especially in the form of ATS (applicant tracking software), which filters out at least 49% of all applications. (?) But what about the job seekers? ?? Our primary goal at twrk is to level the playing field for you, the job seeker. ?? This doesn’t guarantee that you’ll “beat the system,” BUT... ?? Leveling the playing field means that your customized application process will be quick, efficient, and as seamless as possible... without falling into the bottomless pit of the “Easy Apply” rabbit hole. Each one of us here at twrk has had horrific experiences in job searching. We know you have, too. ? Be a cornerstone of the new wave of job searching by becoming a Beta tester! #InterviewTips :: Tip 4 of 10 >> DRESS FOR THE JOB THAT YOU WANT If you’re going for an office job, you want to dress as though you would be asked to start that very day. ???? ? Basically, don’t be wearing jeans, yoga pants, sweats, a tank top, or a hoodie unless you’re specifically told to do so. There might be some exceptions to this. For instance, if you’re applying to be a lifeguard or something like that, maybe don’t arrive to the interview in your swimsuit. ???? But maybe??? I would seriously scope that out ahead of time. ?? ? Be confident. ? Err on the side of dressing more conservatively. ? And this might seem like a no-brainer, but don’t go in with greasy hair. I say it because I’ve seen it. ?? ??You got this! #jobinterview #jobsearch #GenZ

#InterviewTips :: Tip 3 of 10 Respond to meh questions with concise, engaging hero stories. EXAMPLE ?? Question: “What do you find challenging about your current/last job?” ? “I think the work is challenging, but I’m glad that I get to learn new skills.” ? “I think that having so many projects to juggle at the same time can be challenging, but I built myself a spreadsheet that helps keep everything organized, and now our whole team uses this it to increase efficiency.” In the first response, the positive spin is there, but it’s generic and boring. ?? Anyone can say it. In the second response, only you can say it. The experience is specific to you, and you’re showing that you take initiative to resolve issues. ?? Don’t do this for every single question necessarily, but be judicious. Otherwise, you’ll seem to full of yourself. ?? . . #jobsearch #jobhunt #jobinterview

#InterviewTips :: Tip 2 of 10 Put a positive spin on sore subjects. EXAMPLE Question: “What is your biggest weakness?” ? “I care too much.” ? “I sometimes spend too much time on tasks that I really care about, but I’ve been working on this by setting timers for myself.” The first response is so incredibly cliché. It will seem that you don’t have insight to areas where you could improve. Nobody is perfect, Response # 1 makes it seem like you think you’re flawless. ???????? Response # 2 gives a more specific weakness, and then you give it a positive spin by discussing a particular fix you’re trying in order to curb your weakness. ?? Much better. ?? . . #jobsearch #jobsearchwoes
