Thought for the weekend: A Tale Of Two #InStoreExperiences. This week, both Walmart and Barnes & Noble, Inc. announced plans to double down on #brickandmortar with tons of new builds and major upgrades, but their visions for what happens inside couldn't be more different: ? Walmart wants a #digitalfirst experience that uses #technology to get shoppers in and out as fast as possible ? Barnes & Noble wants to be our community gathering place, like it was during my teen years. Kim Schilf of Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce put it perfectly, “Bookstores offer not only books, but often act as cultural hubs and meeting spaces — especially if they’re planning to include a cafe. We hope [Barnes & Noble] will be involved in the neighborhood and appreciate their investment." ? PREDICTION: With the extra time savings from Walmart, we can enjoy more and longer coffee talks with friends at Barnes & Noble!
