We’ve been documenting the journey of becoming a caregiver in what we call stages, however, this next stage, “on standby,” can be misleading, as more often than not it’s a cycle of care that’s beginning. Whether you are “waiting for the call,” or are in a valley of care for your loved one, being on standby is something almost everyone in and around a caregiving scenario experiences on some level. We talk about this in more detail in our latest post in our caregiver journey series. You can read the full post below: https://lnkd.in/eWqr-2FX

When you're in the position of caring for an aging loved one, there more often than not, will come a time where you will need to deepen your involvement with their overall health and well being. This is a stage we refer to as "Health Immersion," and can be one of the more challenging, yet critically important, stages to get your arms around. In this post, we talk through the myriad of challenges that one can face when trying to properly advocate for a loved one. A basic understanding of who their healthcare providers are, what medications they're actively on, what conditions are beings treated (both chronic and acute), should be one of your base goals. This particular challenge is what served as our founder's initial inspiration for our platform, the Illuminator, which pulls all of this together from a loved ones medical claims. Having this base understanding of your loved ones health journey will hopefully lead to more confident and empowered advocating. As we continue our Caregiver Journey series, our latest post focuses on the second stage of our framework, the "Growing Concern" stage: "Typically, people will evolve from the initial alert stage, and progress into a growing concern stage. If your journey has taken you to this point, then you may notice a shift in your observations and emotions. The early signs you previously brushed off as minor incidents begin to repeat, and your concern heightens. This stage is marked by an elevated state of awareness and often involves more frequent and serious conversations about your loved one's well-being." We had a great time at the Medicarians event this year, and are super grateful to have been invited to participate on the big stage! Below, is the video of our founder Greg Cangialosi, telling the story of Twilight in 7 minutes.

Up next in our “Caregiver Journey” series we talk through the beginning of the journey. One we call, the “Early Alert” stage. “For any of us who have become caregivers, we remember the exact moment that captured our initial attention. Maybe it was during your morning coffee when you fielded a call from your mom mentioning some forgetfulness, or telling you the same story, yet once again. You laugh it off, thinking, "We all have those moments, right?" But it got your attention, and a seed of concern was planted.” Read more about the “Early Alert” stage on our blog: https://lnkd.in/emKg2SZm

The journey of caring for a loved one often is a process that unfolds before us in various stages. Each with its own psychological and emotional elements. In a new series on the caregiver experience, our founder highlights six unique stages that a caregiver or a family can experience leading up to the “call for care.” https://lnkd.in/d2f5hmfA
