Help us bring solar powered electricity to Bompaso, Ghana! In Bompaso, 600 residents live without access to electricity. Families rely on kerosene and wood for energy, and walk miles to the nearest place to charge a phone. Twende Solar, in partnership with PACE Ghana, is installing a 10 kW system with battery storage for the Bompaso Community Center (see photo below), transforming it into a hub for education, healthcare, and economic opportunity. With solar energy, the center will provide: ?? Lighting for safety, gatherings, and student study areas ?? Library services to expand educational access ? Phone charging stations for community use ?? Health screenings & vaccine refrigeration ?? A marketplace to support local entrepreneurs To make this project a reality, we need to raise $20,000 by September 1. Twende Solar is excited to partner with Solar Oregon for a free educational webinar on solar panel recycling on April 8 at 12:00 pm PST. Sometimes we can reuse lightly used solar modules in our projects, but often times we have to point people in the right direction for how to responsibly recycle old modules so they don't end up in a landfill. In this webinar, you'll learn everything you need to know to be prepared when your solar panels reach the end of their life. We will discuss the current state of solar panel recycling in Oregon, options to dispose or donate unwanted panels, provide resources so you can be prepared when your solar panels need to be decommissioned, and look towards the future of how solar panel recycling may evolve moving forward. Twende Solar’s solar installation at the Wogagen School in Ethiopia isn’t just providing reliable electricity—it’s also serving as a hands-on training site for the next generation of Ethiopian solar technicians. As part of a Training of Trainers program, 16 electrical trainers from 8 polytechnic colleges in Sidama and Amhara regions of Ethiopia are gaining practical experience in PV system installation & maintenance led by Gizaw Tilaye who was part of the Community Project: Ethiopia team that installed?the system. The batteries, generously provided by Rolls Battery Engineering, (one of our #GiveaWatt partners!), and the inverter from Sol-Ark are equipping trainees with real-world skills to bring clean energy solutions to more communities.
